This comfortable concert is designed to be more relaxed than a traditional concert. The concert will have an informal feel, and audience members will be free to move around and engage with the music in a way that feels relaxed and comfortable, or take some time out during the concert. Everyone is welcome at this concert, but it particularly caters for those with special educational needs and or disabilities, and for the youngest, and oldest, members of the community.

Proud Welsh Flautist Katie Taunton is classically trained with a passion for solo, orchestral, and community music opportunities. Recently announced as a recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society Julius Isserlis Scholarship 2023. Katie is also a laureate of the Llangollen International Music Festival, and the Koechlin International Flute Competition. She loves collaborating with other musicians, including her duo partner, Jack Redman. They will be making their Wigmore Hall debut in November.
Katie has worked with the National Symphony Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra and Knussen Chamber Orchestra. She has also received orchestral training from the Philharmonia, London Philharmonic, and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra’s where she recorded jingles for BBC radio.
In recent years, Katie has found a large passion for community and participation workshops. She is finding it incredibly rewarding to bring music to early year settings, people living with dementia and homeless communities. She works alongside the Wigmore Hall learning team, Music Mind Spirit Trust, the Benedetti Foundation and receives training from the City of London Sinfonia. Katie has received her LRAM teaching licentiate and is now an Open Academy fellow. She is also a flute teacher on the Academy’s wider participation courses and at Sir William Perkins School.
Katie is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) with First Class Honours and Distinction. She is indebted to her teachers Katherine Baker, Kevin Gowland, Anna Noakes, Helen Keen and Carla Rees. The Royal Academy of Music, Help Musicians UK, the Kathleen Trust, and the Richard Stapley Trust generously support her studies.
Jack is a pianist, singer and composer based in London. He recently completed a masters in piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music, studying with Michael Dussek and James Baillieu. Graduating with a DipRAM and Regency prize, he won the Marjorie Thomas Art of Song Prize in competition. A thoroughly rewarding two years at the Academy produced many highlights with some extremely talented soloists. He is an Oxford Lieder Young Artist with soprano Clara Orif, and was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier awards 2023 with mezzo-soprano Anita Monserrat. Jack has acted as repetiteur for a range of productions, most recently Semele for Glyndebourne Festival Opera where he also played the continuo with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Other credits include Madama Butterfly and Werther for Lyric Opera Ireland. He also sings professionally for choirs and opera chorus, including under Carlo Rizzi for Opera Rara’s performance of Mercadante’s Il Proscritto and Donizetti’s L’Esule di Roma. His compositions have been performed live on BBC Radio 4 and at the Bridgewater Hall. His recent song The Cloths of Heaven was premiered at the Oxford Lieder festival, and his choral motet May the Mind of Christ My Saviour is published by the Church Music Society.
